Hola señoras y señores I was thinking about a topic I was discussing yesterday and decided to let u weigh in on it: Can blacks(and non-whites for that matter) be racist? We all should know about racism in this country how it helps fashion the minds of many who are currently still in power. After centuries of degradation, riots, marches, assassinations to now seemingly equal opportunity I wonder can non-whites reverse that racism towards the once oppressors(or their next of kin)?
I have heard of reverse discrimination but neva have seen it up close and personal so i can really speak on it. I believe racism regardless of the actuator is wrong period dot....to judge and subsequently treat someone wrongly based on race(i.e skin color) is ridiculous. Racism i think was formed from whites to view themselves as superior yet we are all human. The effects of racism is everlasting however and I find it hard to see if there will ever be a world with racism issues. I dont necessarily blame all whites for this in this era it is more institutionalized racism more than anything.
Affirmative action is considered a proxy for reverse discrimination. Affirmative action in lamen's term(who is lamen anyway??) are policies that consider race, ethnicity, or gender to promote equal opportunity. I am all for it not just cuz i'm black but b/c discrimination is real. All forms of racism has caused stereotypes, under representation and the list goes on. Opponents view it as uplifting more fortunate ppl of the preferred group(i.e. upper or middle class blacks) while hindering lower class blacks(and whites). That is left to be debated but overall i think the idea is sound.
Webster's Dictionary defines racism "as a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular racial group, and that it is also the prejudice based on such a belief". We are all created from Him and He didn't make anyone "better" than another. Most if not all things are relative so it may not be the case that someone is smarter or more handsome than u esp. not due to race??!!! Please it is a ploy to hype the individual or rationalize that there are differences among certain groups not based on environment but genetic inheritance. So ask urself are u racist?
